It’s been so long since I posted that I almost forgot how
I apologize for that.Big things a gwan. Expect to see changes in the site in the upcoming months.
But for the reason I am posting. a close friend, Rochelle jordan, has released her EP today. She is beyond amazing and has our complete co-sign. We were introduced to Rochelle by her producer, Klash, whom i have had the privilege to work very closely with and look forward to working with in the future. Rochelle is an example of pure talent gone right. She can write and writes all of her own material and her voice is angelic.
They sent me over something to post
but I have to go straight from the heart. Download the EP. I promise she will become your new favorite songstress.
Below is my current anthem, Determination. Penned and performed by Rochelle jordan, produced by Klash.

SXSW 2010
While we were in Austin for the interactive portion of SXSW, we are unfortunately going to spend the music portion in NYC and LA. BUT! Several of or affiliates will be having official and unofficial showcases, as well as artist we stand behind 100%.Hhere is a mini aggregate list or flyers we’ve received this far. Read more
I’m Crushin on you
Summer is approaching. Can I have you Clydes?
Theo Martins “Channel Surfin”
If you check the site enough, you know that Theo Martins is one of my absolute favorite members of the new school. Aside from being an amazing artist, he’s an incredibly humble and charming individual whom I co-sign all day and every day. I still listen to his debut project The Birth fairly frequently, and although I am 2 days late presenting his most recent project Channel Surfing to you all, it does not negate the remark-ability of this project.

I admit, of late we have been extremely guilty of being slightly more skewed towards urban music than was originally intended. A large portion of that was the inability to find quality music that didn’t sound like it was A) recorded in someones garage and B) didn’t come from hipsters that felt they were just cool enough looking to make people listen to them.
So were back on our grind and I apologize for the absence.

The picture above is not a hair campaign, although the guys have enviable locks. The following is one of my new favorite groups. Beat! Beat! Beat!. The best thing to come out of Germany in a minute in my opinion. their tracks “Fireworks” was my introduction to this radded out band and I must admit it was enough to bait the hook.
Beat! Beat! Beat! – Fireworks by TheEargasm
Not sure what their US touring plans might be, but they’re all over Europe, perhaps I’ll be ale to catch the guys live on my next trip to LDN in August.
Definitely check them out. From what I see the Band only has a Myspace page, which is all the reason to visit the wild wild west of Myspace that you might not have visited int he past.. I dunno..year or so. Both of their projects are available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon. And thank you Beat!Beat! Beat! for breaking our drought.
Spec Boogie “Bed Stuy”
I love Brooklyn. After all its the first place I landed when I arrived here in NYC back in 2008. Today my husband showed me video that touches on the gentrification thats happening throughout all of NYC’s urban areas, particularly ”Do or Die” Bedstuy. I like this track.. love this video.. Hope you love it too.

On February 6, 2010 I did the unthinkable. Approximately 8500 updates and 1050 well appreciated new and old friends later, I deleted my twitter account. Upon deletion, as if the creators of twitter knew remorse was an all too common aftereffect of the action I was about to perform, I was warned: THIS IS FINAL. At that time I was sure. Just like that it was done. @Raptastic no longer existed and that night I felt a sigh of relief. I no longer would be tempted to share my inner and outer struggles with my 1,050 followers. I admit I was an “Emo” twitterer. At that time I failed to realize how attached to Raptastic I was. Raptastic had developed a relationship with just about all of her 1,000 followers and in choosing deletion I took Raptastic away from my followers and ironically, myself.
At the time I was sure Raptastic would cease to exist and proud of it as I nonchalantly told colleagues that I deleted my twitter account and didn’t have a second thought about it. The twit itch started about 12 hours later. After updating my blog, I realized I had no twitterers to update. The New Orleans Saints won the Superbowl and I was elated, but had no one to twit to about the seemingly inglorious Saints victory. The girl who was reprimanded weekly in grade school at least once a week for talking too much in class had no one to talk to. I began to realize exactly what twitter had become for me.
Twitter served as a therapist through means of interaction and personification. Not only was it a means to promote my works and the site I toiled over so arduously for the past year. The slept on social media giant had become my rolodex, my counselor, and sounding board and I had just disconnected myself from it.
Upon notifying colleagues that my twitter account has changed I often receive the question “Why did you delete it?” The truth is it’s not so much of a long story, but a personal story. After entering a personal revelation that I did not want to be tempted to chronicle, I choose to eradicate the possible outlets rather than use self control. So I thought. My actions were not just limited to Twitter, but Facebook also.
The absence of Twitter in my life has led me to realize the actual importance and relevance of this oversimplified tool. If Twitter remains as it is, that is without advertisements and the spam that clogs Facebook and eventually damned Myspace, twitter will be greater than the both of them. Twitter has permeated the mainstream and is no longer a tech geek tool or pastime. Virtually every celebrity and the majority of companies have a presence on Twitter. News is communicated via twitter before most major networks have the time to pull together crews and other tools needed to broadcast “Breaking News”. How could I walk away from that? I couldn’t for long. And I am back more active and alive than ever as VivaLaRap.
P.S I have yet to reinstate my Facebook account
5 Questions with Joya Bravo

Since posting a lil bit about he awesomely talented, amazing, an gorgeous Joya. She went and got herself a little McDonald’s commercial that errr aired during the Grammy’s. #POW 5 question form Joya.. And shout out to that guy who said he could be her DJ cause he had a “full schedule”.. Yeah…NICE TO MEET YA!

1). What Gives you an Eargasm?
Wahwahweewah! I would say anything with extreme musicianship. E.g. Key changes, anything that is not in typical 4/4 time, syncopation, picardi-thirds and whatnot. But music has changed so much, well, it has become more…convenient for lack of a better term. Its more simplistic which makes it more to the point…good thing, maybe? So an Eargasm is the energy that can come from a song and break past situational barriers; penetrate your serotonin sac and take you exactly where your subconscious or your conscious psyche wants to go at that very moment. Oh and it also makes for a delightful trending topic on Twitter.
2). Album or work with a Guaranteed Eargasm Experience other than yours(or that your directly affiliated with)?
Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” Album! Sonically delicious! The song “Such Great Heights” by the Postal Service and “Maggot Brain” from The Funkadelics.
3) Something you learned this week.
Basquiat was way hot. RIP

4) Song you would wake up to every morning if you could?
“Massage Situation” by Flying Lotus then “Right Now” by Devin the Dude.
Flying Lotus – Massage Situation by TheEargasm
5) We’re tired of Swag. Give us your alternative to the overused word.
I get super slangtacular at times…My word of choice has been dougie for a while. For example ”Eargasm, I’m diggin’ your dougie”! Or like another example can be ”Jumping Jehosafats! Joya Bravo got super dougie on that ‘Onto the Next remix’ on her new project thats about to drop entitled ‘Move in Day’.” (Don’t judge me, thank you.)
Chip Tha Ripper “Like That”
We’re admitted Chip tha Ripper Stans over here. This video experience is heightened by that plus the fact that he uses a sample form one of my favorite hip hop tracks.

XXL Freshman Mixtape
Theres been alot of shade thrown at this years Freshman Top 10. Besides the fact that I have a vested interest given that Donnis was selected as one of the “honorees”, there were a few names that made me say , WHO? But this morning i downloaded the mixtpe and to be honest. It’s dope. Fashawn frigin RIPS the skin off of “So Hard”, that second verse makes my heart pitter patter…. I mean. Hip hop is in good hands. Trust.
COP IT!

And a little souther Mojo off the tape from O.J Da Juice
