I’m Crushin on you
Summer is approaching. Can I have you Clydes?
Theo Martins “Channel Surfin”
If you check the site enough, you know that Theo Martins is one of my absolute favorite members of the new school. Aside from being an amazing artist, he’s an incredibly humble and charming individual whom I co-sign all day and every day. I still listen to his debut project The Birth fairly frequently, and although I am 2 days late presenting his most recent project Channel Surfing to you all, it does not negate the remark-ability of this project.

Beat!Beat!Beat!
I admit, of late we have been extremely guilty of being slightly more skewed towards urban music than was originally intended. A large portion of that was the inability to find quality music that didn’t sound like it was A) recorded in someones garage and B) didn’t come from hipsters that felt they were just cool enough looking to make people listen to them.
So were back on our grind and I apologize for the absence.

The picture above is not a hair campaign, although the guys have enviable locks. The following is one of my new favorite groups. Beat! Beat! Beat!. The best thing to come out of Germany in a minute in my opinion. their tracks “Fireworks” was my introduction to this radded out band and I must admit it was enough to bait the hook.
Beat! Beat! Beat! – Fireworks by TheEargasm
Not sure what their US touring plans might be, but they’re all over Europe, perhaps I’ll be ale to catch the guys live on my next trip to LDN in August.
Definitely check them out. From what I see the Band only has a Myspace page, which is all the reason to visit the wild wild west of Myspace that you might not have visited int he past.. I dunno..year or so. Both of their projects are available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon. And thank you Beat!Beat! Beat! for breaking our drought.
Preview of Norse Projects Fall/Winter Line For 2010
Danish originated Norse Projects serves up a new batch of clean cut yet versatile menswear. The new line up from NP includes some lightweight jackets, crewnecks, scarves and my personal pick, a work shirt. These items may remind you of such brands as A.P.C (France) and Acne (Sweden), both of whom have a reputation for traditional fashions of the highest caliber. Make no mistake though; the Denmark brand has its unique flair intact.
This season’s pieces were put together with a little contribution from other labels. The boots are part of a collection designed by Trickers for Norse Projects. One of the new fall/winter line’s accessories is also the result of collaboration. The gloves which are 100% deerskin are produced in-house by the family owned and operated Hestra. These leather gloves are out in black, orange and yellow, all with ribbed black cuffs.
Norse Projects has been around as a pivotal store in Copenhagen since 2004 but they just began producing their own name brand fashions starting last year. Look forward to more classic and stylish gear from our Scandinavian friends in upcoming seasons.

Yelawolf X B.o.B: The New School Rocks The Crowd
Yelawolf x B.o.B x Whynatte from Motion Family on Vimeo.
Two artists steadily on the come up, Yelawolf and B.o.B performed recently at Smith’s Olde Bar. I’ve already posted about Bobby Ray aka B.o.B here on The Eargasm, but if you haven’t heard of Yelawolf by now, most would agree that you’re missing out on a uniquely talented artist. YW is a product of Alabama and has been putting out records since ‘05. It’s sad that it has taken this long for his buzz to finally spread like wildfire. Last year he was on the Slim Thug single “I Run” and this year his name has gotten around even more thanks to a mixtape entitled Trunk Muzik, and his vocals on Juelz Santana’s “Mixin’ Up the Medicine” along with its Rik Cordero directed video. I think it’s safe to say he’s an abstract artist and the game hasn’t seen anything like him before. It’s going to be interesting to watch what happens next with the ‘bama native.
Check out the video which includes energetic performances from both artists. Yelawolf gets the crowd jumping with “Good to Go” which features Bun B while B.o.B goes in on “Bet I” feat. Playboy Tre off his May 25th mixtape. Both of these southerners are definitely some of the premiere stars in the new wave of Hip-Hop. (Warning “Good to Go” may become a problem in the club, i.e. Lil Scrappy “Knuck If You Buck” and Bonecrusher “Never Scared”).

Spec Boogie “Bed Stuy”
I love Brooklyn. After all its the first place I landed when I arrived here in NYC back in 2008. Today my husband showed me video that touches on the gentrification thats happening throughout all of NYC’s urban areas, particularly ”Do or Die” Bedstuy. I like this track.. love this video.. Hope you love it too.

Ok can someone tell me where I can find an over 30 years old Diggy Simmons to date? This kid is just too steezy. The 14 year old son of Rev Run is already getting respect in the hip hop and fashion scene. Check his blog for his mixtape and style. www.digslifeofthejetsetter.blogspot.com and see why I named my dog after him.
MUSEUM PARTY! (Yeah You Heard That Right)
It’s not something that happens often but when it does, it’s pretty much a guaranteed good time. The Fader magazine brings us a solid set of appearances tonight, including Ninjasonik and Theophilus London. The event, entitled “One Step Beyond”, takes place at NYC’s beloved American Museum of Natural History. You’ll find ticket and time info located on the flyer (URL posted below). For any youngin’s out there, sorry this is not a school field trip, 21 and over. The only question now is can you order drinks in the planetarium? If anyone knows feel free to get back to me a.s.a.p. Thanks.

Enter the Cudder as “Domingo Dean”
Most people that are familiar with my musical affinities know that I’ve been a fan of Kid Cudi’s work since day one. Now that he’s embarked on expanding his resume with a supporting role on the new HBO series HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA, people (myself included) are curious to see how he will fare in the acting forum.
So far the show is 4 episodes in and Cudi’s personality has suited him well for his on-screen persona as well as allowed for him to bond with the cast off-screen (as you’ll hear in the video). Playing someone on the grind in NYC is right up the alley of the kid from Shaker Heights. Now while it’s often true that a rappa ternt acta (as T-Pain would put it) can be disastrous, that is not the case here. It would seem that the part of “Domingo Dean” is in good hands.
Watch the video to get the scoop on how the Cleveland representa’ got his debut acting gig as well as see a few of his clips from the show. If you’re on the grind just like ”Ben”, “Cam” and “Domingo” in HTMIA and can only afford the time to follow one TV show, this should probably be your pick this season. Catch up on any episodes you’ve missed at www.HBO.com.
