Haute Spot: Beacons Closet, Brooklyn NY
I have been on a search for a little black dress. So this past weekend I set out to find one and add this to my collection of essentials. So me and the love had several clothes fro cleaning out the apartment, him being a “retired” stylist, had mounds of clothes. So we took them to Beacons Closet.
And we received roughly 70.00 for our clothes, with plenty left over that we decided to donate. So a little about Beacons closet.
what we do
beacon’s closet is a clothing exchange store. we are not a consignment shop. this means that you don’t have to wait for your items to sell before you get cash or store credit for them. we selectively buy, sell, and trade used clothing and accessories, from, to, and with the public, on a walk-in basis. beacon’s closet specializes in both ultramodern and vintage attire. what we will buy is dictated by the following factors: season, demand, condition & inventory levels
how much we pay
we offer exactly 35% cash, or 55% store credit, of the very price tag that we put on your items. since this is not a consignment shop, you will receive your cash or credit voucher on the spot. we will evaluate the items while you wait, or you may drop them off for your convenience.
how to sell your stuff
we continue to buy daily, without appointments, during all hours of operation up until a half an hour before closing. during peak selling seasons, however, cut off times may be earlier. please feel free to give us a call to find out about projected wait times. we will evaluate the items while you wait, or you may drop them off for your convenience.
any items that we pass on can be left in the store and will be donated to charity. please note that items left by customers and not selected for resale, will be donated to charity if not retrieved by the customer before closing the same day that clothing is dropped off. this is due to restrictions on storage space and the volume of clothing that we receive.
if items are selected for resale, we will require your government issued photo i.d. as the customer is our vendor. sorry, no exceptions. this is for tax and documentation purposes only. your information will not be shared with other companies or used for any kind of promotion. we receive no tax deductions for items left by customers, as these items do not constitute a part of our inventory. we accept donations on behalf of other charities only as a service to our customers and to participating charities. customers are encouraged to return the day that clothing is dropped off, or to bring their items to a charity of their choosing.
AND GUESS WHAT!
I found my Dress. Calvin Klein. Probably retailed for over $500. I bought it with Tags still attached, for $34.95.
I think that might just be my new favorite store.

5 Questions with Nick-n-Beans
September 29, 2009 by Starsky
Filed under 5 Questions, Blog, Interviews
I finally had a chance to catch up with the Chi-Town dual Nick-n-Beans. They are much more than underground noise makers, more like quarter sticks of dynamite making heads turn and bop to their unique sound.
The Eargasm had a chance to get their 5 and as you guest it, these two have more energy then the Yin Yang Twins.
1). What Gives you an Eargasm?
Nick – What gives me a eargasm is going to the studio listening to a NEW song.
Beans – The Across The Universe Remake Of “Strawberry Fields Forever”.
2). Album or work with a Guaranteed Eargasm Experience other than yours?
Beans - MGMT Oracular Spectacular
Nick – Natorious B.I.G Ready to Die is a guaranteed eargasm experience…REAL SHIT!
3) Something you learned this week.
Nick – everyday is a struggle right now so just get on your shit grind and win at the end of the day…REAL SHIT!
Beans – No one ever made history by themselves, it was always a movement.
4) Song you would wake up to every morning if you could?
Beans – Kanye West – Late
Nick – Ice Cube-It was a good day

5) Eargasm or Orgasm
Nick – BOTH (can I pick both??)..LOL..*
Beans – Can I choose an Eargasm while having an Orgasm lol
New John Mayer “Who Says”
I don’t think anyone will be happier about this track being released than my mother, who is a devout John Mayer fan. I am refreshed o see new john Mayer. He’s not exactly an indie artist, but he remains true to the music he wants to create. Which I can definitely respect.

A.P.C Cardigan
I suppose in a large enough size, Fellas could even wear this. Because according to Michal on my favorite episode of The Office, some clothes are “bisexual”. Loving this Cardigan for the upcoming Fall/Winter season.

Butter Bullets “Ok Cool”
This is why I love music. As a military kids, I was often forced to reintegrate into different cultures whether over seas or states side. The video below by “Butter Bullets” is completely in French. I do not speak French at all. But the beat, the delivery, and the video effectively combat that existing barrier. Enjoy this Eargasm.

Thanks to the Day N Night Blog for putting me on.
